Η Wolfsburg, ομολογουμένως φέτος τα πάει αρκετά χάλια (αυτή τη στιγμή είναι στο δεύτερο μισό του βαθμολογικού πίνακα), όμως μετά τον περσινό τους θρίαμβο με 5-1 στο ίδιο γήπεδο, περιμέναμε να αντισταθούν και ως πρωταθλητές, αν μη τι άλλο.

Στο παιχνίδι παρουσιάστηκαν αδύναμοι, ασυγκέντρωτοι και απελπισμένοι. Τουλάχιστον εγώ αυτό εισέπραξα.

Από την άλλη, η ομάδα μου, από το ξεκίνημα έκανε ξεκάθαρες τις προθέσεις της, αφού έχασε ήδη ευκαιρία στο πρώτο λεπτό, για να σκοράρει ο Robben μετά την παρέλευση 2 λεπτών και 4 δευτερολέπτων στο παιχνίδι. Απόλυτη κυριαρχία δεν είχαμε, αλλά είχαμε την κατάλληλη αμυντική στάση για την αντιμετώπιση των επιθέσεων τους κι έτσι δεν τους αφήσαμε να γίνουν επικίνδυνοι.

Ο Robben ασταμάτητος πάλι, ο Olic να τρέχει πάντα και παντού, ο Gomez να καταβάλλει μεγάλες προσπάθειες και πολύ τρέξιμο, ο Van Bommel να μαλακίζεται ως συνήθως, δοκιμάζοντας στο πρώτο μισάωρο γύρω στα 5 σουτ έξω από την περιοχή κι ενώ μέσα σ’αυτήν υπήρχαν 80 ποδοσφαιριστές. Demichelis και Van Buyten στυλοβάτες στην άμυνα, ο Lahm να κάνει αθόρυβη αλλά σημαντικότατη δουλειά. Κι ένας Butt αποτελεσματικός, πραγματοποιώντας δύσκολες επεμβάσεις κι αποκρούοντας penalty του Grafite. Δυστυχώς δεν είδα τη φάση του goal στο 90’ και δε μπορώ να ξέρω.

Γενικά μια Bayern που απολαμβάνεις να παρακολουθείς, μια Bayern που έπιασε στην κορυφή τη Leverkusen (1-1 εκτός με Bochum σήμερα) με 45 βαθμούς και πάει κατ’ευθείαν για το πρωτάθλημα. Μια Wolfsburg απογοητευτική, που δε θυμίζει σε τίποτε τους περσινούς πρωταθλητές, ιδιαίτερα όταν παίκτες όπως Grafite, Misimovic και Dzeko είναι αόρατοι μέσα στο γήπεδο, με εξαίρεση ίσως τον πρώτο.

Bayern’s tremendous winning run continued away to Wolfsburg on Saturday, as the men in red ruthlessly put away their chances to kill off the out-of-sorts champions with something to spare, simultaneously exacting revenge for last term’s painful 5-1 defeat on the same ground.

The 28,000 full house at the Volkswagen Arena saw the visitors roar off the blocks through Arjen Robben after just two minutes, Daniel van Buyten doubling the advantage midway through the first half. Robben hit the post just seconds after the restart, and sub Franck Ribery was the last Bayern man involved when Andrea Barzagli put through his own goal to make it 3-0 on the hour.

Wolfsburg’s woe was compounded when Jörg Butt comfortably saved Grafite’s penalty on an afternoon when the only charge which could be levelled at the Bavarians was a touch of complacency towards the end, as chances went begging and Grafite was allowed to net a last-minute consolation for the otherwise dismal home team.

Bayern’s eighth straight win in the league, combined with Leverkusen’s 1-1 draw in Bochum, means Munich move level with Bayer at the top of the standings on 45 points from 21 matches, but remain second with a goal difference of +27 to their rivals’ +29.

Both coaches kept faith with their starting line-ups from last weekend. That was little surprise in the case of Louis van Gaal’s Bayern, unbeaten in their last 13 Bundesliga fixtures, and although the Wolves had drawn four and lost four going into the match, new boss Lorenz-Günther Köstner saw enough positives in a gutsy away draw with Hamburg to field an unchanged side.

Once referee Manuel Gräfe whistled play underway on a freezing afternoon in Lower Saxony, Van Gaal’s men made a dream start when Bastian Schweinsteiger released Thomas Müller into space down the left, the youngster cutting the ball back towards the penalty spot for Robben to explode past two defenders and sweep the ball left-footed into the far corner.

Mark van Bommel fired the next chance wide, but Wolfsburg made a spirited comeback and Jörg Butt produced a good reaction save to deny Grafite, before Edin Dzeko skewered a shot into the side-netting.

Ivica Olic and Mario Gomez both threatened as the contest took on a thrilling end-to-end character for a time, but former FCB youth Zvjezdan Misimovic and Christian Gentner both missed the target, before Grafite’s cheeky backheel trickled across the face of Butt’s goal and out of play.

Munich responded with a chance for Olic, and the Bavarians struck ruthlessly on 26 minutes to move two goals ahead. The home defence failed to deal with Robben’s corner, Olic heading the loose ball back towards the far post where Van Buyten handed himself an early present a day before his 32nd birthday with an emphatic diving header.

That took the wind out of the Wolves’ sails and Bayern looked comfortable in the quarter-hour before the break. Gomez, Müller and Olic all tested home keeper Andre Lenz, with Butt only called into action once from a Grafite flick.

Ribery replaced Olic for the second half, but it was Robben with the first chance just seconds after the restart, the Dutchman’s left-footed shot cannoning off the upright after taking a deflection off Alexander Madlung.

Ribery fired a free-kick into the wall from a decent position, Butt comfortably gathered Dzeko’s flicked header, and Lenz dived to save Schweinsteiger’s piledriver as the action hotted up.

But with the hour approaching. Robben’s sublime pass left Müller with only Lenz to beat, and although the keeper parried, Ribery flicked the ball over him and was about to slot home when Barzagli completed the job for him.

Any hopes the Wolves had of an unlikely comeback were extinguished on 66 minutes when Butt easily saved Grafite’s weak penalty after Ribery had tripped Sascha Riether in the box. The FCB keeper was twice forced to block from the Brazilian and also made a fine diving save from Dzeko as the visitors eased back a shade, before Klose took over for the last ten minutes from Robben, again the outstanding individual on the day.

Bayern might have added more on the break against the demoralised Wolves, but a touch of carelessness set in and even allowed Grafite to nod a consolation with the last move of the game after Van Buyten deflected Dzeko’s cross beyond Butt.
